103-76 BC NGC-Certified Widow’s Mite Judaean Prutah Coin
The tiny mite bronze coin was the smallest and lowest denomination that circulated throughout the Holy Land during the life of Jesus. Twice in the Gospels, in Luke and Mark, we hear the Parable of the Widow’s Mites – a tale of charity and humility told by Jesus in the last days of his life. This coinhas been certified by NGC Ancients to be authentic and, since many fakeshave beenproduced, it is very important to have this certification.

Good to Know
Design
- These coins were very crudely made, usually off center on irregular flans. The resulting coins frequently show minimal imagery.
- The coins will most often show partial images of an anchor on one side and/or a six or eight pointed star on the other.
- The anchor design was adopted from the Seleucids, who used it to symbolize their naval power. The star, with or without a surrounding circular diadem, symbolizes Heaven.
Encapsulated and in a pouch
- Helps to preserve each coin’s beauty and condition
