- Constantine/Constantius II, Fausta’s middle son, was the most ruthlessly efficient of Constantine’s sons.
- He was elevated to Caesar at age seven and, in 333, was given the city of Antioch.
- Upon the death of Constantine in 337, he was the first to arrive at the capital of Constantinople where he made funeral arrangements for his father.
- Using a document purported to be a last will, he accused his cousins of treason.
- A bloodbath ensued in which every man in the Constantine family was slaughtered except his 2 brothers and 2 very young cousins.
- He assumed control of the Eastern part of the Empire.
